Photographer from Kharkiv Yakiv Lyashenko captures tragedy in Kharkiv region

On October 5, the Russian Armed Forces launched a missile attack on the village of Groza, Kupyansk district, Kharkiv region. A local cafe and shop was destroyed. Dozens of people were killed, Focus reports.

This is all that is known about the tragedy at the moment.

▪️President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram about what happened at 15:45. Initially, 48 people were reported dead.

▪️After that at 4 p.m., the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the attack killed 49 people.

▪️ Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that at the time of the strike, the village was having a memorial dinner, and one in 10 residents died.

▪️According to Olena Shapoval, spokesperson for the head of the Kharkiv regional administration, the missile attack on the village of Groza was the most massive in terms of the number of deaths in the region since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

▪️The State Emergency Service reported that at 19:50 in the village of Groza, Kupyansk district, rescuers stopped searching for people under the rubble. The death toll remains the same as previously reported - 51 people (including 1 child born in 2017), 6 people were injured.

"One of the most difficult moments during the shooting was when the phone of the deceased person rang. We gathered the documents, phones, and things we found in one place," said Yakov.
