In Minsk, a Belarusian photographer who covered the war in Ukraine will be prosecuted.

The photographer is charged with Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them). Human rights activists noticed the announcement of the court hearing in the court schedule. Vasiukovich is being held in a pre-trial detention center.

According to the Belarusian Association of Journalists, in 2016, during an exhibition in Moscow, Vasiukovich's photographs from the war in Ukraine were doused with paint. This was done by Russian artist Anton Belikov. He also called Vasyukovich a "fascist".

Alexander Vasyukovich is a well-known Belarusian freelance photographer. He documented the Russian-Ukrainian war in Ukraine. In 2020, he was detained during protests in Belarus.
