"Rise of the States": Green Light Films releases Alex Garland's realistic dystopia about war correspondents

The film will be available on big screens from April 11

In April, the most expensive blockbuster by the American independent company A24, "Rise of the States", is released nationwide. The film's budget amounted to $75 million. The studio is best known for such films as the Oscar-winning All the Way and Moonlight, as well as the hits Lady Bird, Solstice, Lobster and others.

The ambitious film project is directed and written by the legendary visionary Alex Garland, who worked on such hits as Ex Machina, Annihilation, Maleficent, 28 Days Later, and wrote the novel The Beach, which was adapted into a movie of the same name starring Leonardo DiCaprio. In Ukraine, the film is exclusively shown by the distribution company Green Light Films. The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers became a partner of the screenings.

In his works, Alex Garland demonstrates a unique reflection of the world. "Rise of the States is no exception. This stunning action film about the United States in the near future is set against the backdrop of an escalating civil war under a president who is seeking a third term and ignoring the protests of the people. A team of military photojournalists travels across the country, documenting the rapidly escalating internal divide and its consequences for the country as a whole and for ordinary civilians within it. Genre master Alex Garland keeps the viewer in suspense with an adrenaline-pumping, thrilling journey to the front lines of a dystopian tomorrow, immersing them in a cinematic world that gathers momentum every minute until the inevitable stunning conclusion. Official synopsis of the film: "A thrilling, adrenaline-pumping journey across a divided America to balance on a razor's edge."

The film stars an all-star cast including Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia, Interview with the Vampire), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Wagner Moura (Narcos), Jesse Plemens(Flower Full Moon Killers, Breaking Bad) and the newly discovered star of the Priscilla biopic, Kaley Spanaway.

The scenario depicted in the film is easy to imagine, given the destabilization of the geopolitical situation in the world, and in particular, against the backdrop of growing political intolerance in the United States and accusations of non-transparent presidential elections. The "Rise of the States" looks like a warning against potentially dangerous actions that could lead to inevitable consequences within one of the most powerful countries of today: chaos, division of society, and the absence of the right to protest. The film's voice of objectivity is the photojournalists who capture the realities every second to spread the truth around the world.

The trailer of the movie summarizes the phrase "All empires will fall". The Ukrainian audience will find out on April 11, simultaneously with the world premiere, in 2D, 4DX and IMAX cinemas, which maximizes the cinematography and scope of the director's idea.
