Festival "From a country to Ukraine"

The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) has become a partner of the festival "From a Country to Ukraine", which aims to assist local communities in Eastern Ukraine in imbuing their cities with an atmosphere of unity, support, and a sense of the Ukrainian spirit.

"From a Country to Ukraine" is a large-scale cultural and educational festival, initiated in 2014, which travels through small towns of eastern regions, educating about the diversity of our country's cultural heritage through lectures and workshops, and introducing modern Ukrainian technologies and contemporary Ukrainian music of various genres.

The mission of the festival is to create an environment for the social evolution of unaware citizens into a civil society through the implementation of programs in education, culture, and health care.

As part of the festival, the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) is responsible for the "Photography" segment and, for the first time in its history, presented an extensive photo program:

  • An exhibition of abstract industrial landscapes by Hryhoriy Vepryk, shot in Eastern Ukraine, as well as a series of meetings with the author;

  • An exhibition of street photographs by Yuriy Khromushin about the 70s-90s;

  • A meeting with Serhiy Korovayny with stories about his "Mariupol" project and other documentary shoots;

  • A lecture by the photographer and founder of the photo academy, Ihor Chekachkov, about modern possibilities of photo education in Ukraine and narratives about his work;

  • Narratives by the curator of the festival photo program, Valentyn Kuzan, about Ukrainian photography in all its diversity.

We are delighted that the festival helps local communities in Eastern Ukraine fill their cities with an atmosphere of unity, support, and a sense of the Ukrainian spirit.
