Ukrainian photographer and documentary filmmaker, born in 1973 in Kharkiv. His first degree was in astronomy, and his second in cinematography.
His artistic practice is shaped at the intersection of somatics, geophilosophy, and posthumanism. For a long time, Titov collaborated with theaters, took part in Ukrainian and European art projects, and worked in performative laboratories. Even after shifting his focus from aesthetic exploration to documentary recording of the realities of war, he continues to study the plasticity of the body and artistic ways of depicting human action in the frame.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Yevhen Titov has worked as a war journalist, documenting the conflict in the combat zones of eastern Ukraine. His professional priority is to create an objective visual record of the consequences of war for an international audience.
Titov covers events in Ukraine for leading international news agencies, including Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France‑Presse, Getty Images, European Pressphoto Agency, and Polska Agencja Prasowa. His visual materials have been published by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Le Monde, Deutsche Welle, Bloomberg, BBC, Euronews, CNN, Al Jazeera, and other international media.
Among his documentary works are the film “Ukraine: Photographer in Wartime” for ARTE France and the documentary “Izium 21.09.2022” by the #BABYLON’13 collective. His projects have also been presented at exhibitions in Ukraine and Europe, including in Vienna, Kingston upon Hull, Bern, and Larre.
