On the night of July 19, 2025, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Odesa and the surrounding area with kamikaze drones from the direction of the Black Sea. The air raid alert lasted from 10:40 p.m. to 12:52 a.m., and at around 12:20 a.m., a series of explosions—at least twelve—rocked the city.

The attack caused a major fire in a nine-story residential building, with apartments on the sixth to ninth floors catching fire. In addition to the residential building, the Russian strike damaged a number of civilian infrastructure facilities, including private homes, commercial establishments, and cars. Rescuers, medics, police, and investigators worked at the scene.
