During the week from June 9 to 15, 2025, Ukraine experienced the most large-scale attacks during the entire period of the full-scale invasion. Russia has deployed hundreds of kamikaze drones, missiles of various types and guided air bombs, concentrating strikes on Kiev, Kharkiv, Sumy, Odessa, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava region. The Russian Federation purposefully attacked civilian infrastructure: residential quarters, maternity hospitals, cultural monuments, energy facilities. Dozens of civilians were killed and injured, including children.

Night on June 9 was the beginning of a large-scale drone-missile campaign. It was the largest air attack of the entire war: Russia launched up to 499 targets, of which 460 drones and 19 missiles were successfully shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces. At the same time, Ukrainian forces attacked the bases of Russian troops on the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular the Savasleika airbase, the Cheboksary plant and facilities in Kursk.

June 10 Kiev, Odessa, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk region were under shelling. In the capital, explosions occurred in seven out of ten districts. As a result of the attacks, high-rise buildings were damaged, at least four people were killed, and more than ten others were injured. In Odessa, the rocket destroyed the maternity ward of the hospital, and the St. Sophia Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was also damaged. Russia has traditionally called these attacks “a blow to military infrastructure.”

June 11 Kharkiv experienced one of the worst attacks of the summer: as a result of night drone shelling, three people were killed and 64 were injured. Some of them are in serious condition. Humanitarian infrastructure was also shelled: a brigade of medics who were helping the wounded came under fire. On the same day, Ukraine returned the bodies of more than 1,200 dead soldiers as part of a large exchange.

June 12 Russian troops attacked Sumy region — at least three were killed, more than two dozen others were wounded. Due to artillery shelling and air strikes, more than 200 villages and towns in the region were threatened, and urgent evacuations began in some areas. In response, Ukrainian drones struck military facilities in Belgorod and Moscow regions.

June 13 and 14 became days of mutual blows and at the same time - another large-scale exchange: Ukraine managed to return the bodies of more than a thousand defenders. An attack on the Kaliningrad region was also recorded: Ukrainian drones destroyed a substation that provided power supply to a military plant.

June 15 enemy strike came at Kherson — one person was killed, several others were wounded. On the same day, Ukrainian drone attacks reached the depths of Tatarstan: one death and thirteen wounded were reported in Yelabuga.

Only in June 2025 Russia released already more than 2800 drones, about 3000 air bombs and at least 140 missiles. Ukrainian air defenses are effectively intercepting most of them, but the scale of the damage and the number of casualties indicate that this week the war has again approached dozens of Ukrainian cities and families.

Odessa under attack: drones attacked a maternity hospital, a zoo and a railway station

On the night of June 10Russia attacked Odessa with at least ten strike drones. During the air alarm, which lasted from 00:38 to 01:31, the explosions were heard at about 01:16 — a time when most residents were still asleep. According to the Air Force, the drones flew from the Black Sea.

Two men were killed as a result of the impact. One of them — born in 1967 — was discovered by rescuers under the rubble of a destroyed building. Nine people were injured: five women and three men were injured, another woman had an acute stress reaction. Four victims were hospitalized, they are in moderate severity.

The attack caused widespread destruction in various areas of the city. Residential buildings, a maternity hospital, an emergency medical station, a private medical clinic, a sports complex, a zoo, a railway station building and dozens of townspeople's cars were damaged.

The prosecutor's office of the Odessa region has already opened criminal proceedings under the article on war crimes — Part 2 of Art. 438 KKU. The investigators note that the strike had all the hallmarks of a targeted attack on civilian infrastructure, which has nothing to do with military facilities.

Photoreporters Alexander Gimanov and Timofey Melnikov captured the aftermath of this attack: burned facades of medical institutions, smashed windows in a destroyed maternity hospital, a damaged railway station building and frightened residents trying to save the remains of their property.

According to official data, as a result of the attack, a 72-year-old woman was killed in the Obolonsky district - her body was found near a destroyed house in the private sector. Four men were injured, two of them were hospitalized, and two others were assisted on the spot. In the morning, the number of victims could increase: rescue and medical services continued to work.

According to the head KMVA Timur Tkachenko, shelling covered seven districts of the capital. Partial destruction is recorded in apartment buildings and private houses, office and warehouse premises. The wreckage of downed UAVs caused fires and fires in warehouses, in forest strips and even in residential buildings.

Obolonsky district suffered almost the most: the first and second floors of a high-rise building caught fire here, 18 apartments were damaged. According to the head of the regional state administration Kirill Fesik, it was Obolon that became one of the main targets of the attack — there were many explosions and sources of ignition. To eliminate the fire, rescuers brought in aviation — water for extinguishing was taken from local lakes.

In Darnytskyi district, drones caused a fire in a non-residential building, partially destroyed an apartment building, damaged a garage cooperative and caused damage to an emergency service station. Warehouses and a forest strip were also on fire.

The Holosiivskyi district suffered damage in the business center — the wreckage of the drone fell on the territory of a non-residential building. There was significant smoke in the area, and in the morning there was a deterioration in air quality on the Avenue of Science and in the area of Poznyaky.

Local fires, destruction of non-residential buildings and damage to cars were recorded in Shevchenko, Podolsk, Solomensky and Desnyansk districts. To eliminate the consequences, more than a hundred rescuers and dozens of units of equipment worked, in particular — fire workers, a boat of the State Emergency Service and Helicopters.

Serhiy Nuzhnenko's photo report from the scene recorded the consequences of the night attack: thick smoke over Kiev, in the sky - helicopters of the State Emergency Service, dropping water on the ignition cells. The pictures show desolate courtyards, blackened facades and rescuers who do not stop their work from dawn.

Doctors rate their condition as moderate. Subsequently, it became known about another victim - a 62-year-old woman with fractures of both legs, who turned to the doctors on her own. Her condition is also stable, but of moderate severity.

One of the blows hit the parking lot. According to local authorities, at least ten cars burned there. “Instead of parking — a fire pit”, — commented the situation in the city council, publishing photos of charred cars against the background of destroyed infrastructure.

The fires occurred not only in the parking lot: warehouses, a humanitarian enterprise, several buildings and a store were occupied. A public transport stop was also affected. The blast wave knocked out the portholes in high-rise buildings near the impact site. According to the State Emergency Service, rescuers quickly located all ignition centers.

Photo report by Ekaterina Klochko conveys the emotional and visual depth of the experience of this attack: mangled cars, black traces of fire on the walls, empty window frames in residents' apartments, as well as traces of blood near the bus stop — evidence that this morning for the city began not with light, but with explosions..

Tragedy in Kyiv. The attack was the largest number of casualties since the attack on Okhmatdyt

On the night of June 17, Russia launched a massive combined strike on Kiev, using 175 kamikaze drones, at least 14 cruise missiles and two ballistic missiles. This is one of the deadliest attacks on the capital since the start of a full-scale war.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko, more than 30 apartments were destroyed. People can remain under the rubble.

According to the boss KMVA Timur Tkachenko, the nature of the lesions indicates a targeted fire on residential buildings. “These were direct hits — from the upper floors to the basements. This is not about debris, but about direct hits of missiles,” he said.

Rescuers, explosives and investigative teams are still working at the landing sites. The analysis of the rubble and the search for people who could not be evacuated continues.

As a result of the blast wave, more than 100 windows and doors were knocked out in four buildings of the hospital.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack on Kyiv one of the worst for all time of a full-scale war. In the appeal, he said that at night Russia fired more than 440 drones and 32 missiles, attacking not only the capital, but also Odessa, Zaporozhye, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovograd, Nikolaev and Kyiv regions.

"My condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Such attacks are pure terrorism. And the whole world, the United States and Europe, must finally react as a civilized society reacts to terrorists, "Zelensky said.

According to him, Vladimir Putin continues to strike only because he has the ability to wage war further. The Head of State stressed that the worst is when the powerful deliberately close their eyes to the obvious.
