The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) has opened applications for the third Micro-grant Support Program for Ukrainian Documentarians, which has become an annual event. The goal of the program is to support authors who continue to document the experience of a country resisting aggression and create visual evidence of events that define the history of modern Ukraine.

At a time when many photographers risk their lives, lose the opportunity to work, or face financial limitations, UAPP aims to provide them with resources to continue their mission. The program is designed not only to support individual projects but also to promote the preservation of the war’s visual memory, the development of new voices in documentary photography, and the creation of a space where these voices can be heard.

Each of the eight selected participants will receive a grant of 1,000 euros to implement their own documentary project—a series of no fewer than ten photographs that reflect various aspects of the Ukrainian experience: life on the frontline, the consequences of shelling, stories of civilians and military personnel, inner strength, loss, and restoration.

In addition to financial support, the program includes the publication of photographers' work on official UAPP platforms, as well as the integration of selected series into the association's further exhibition and publishing initiatives. The final stage will be the creation of a printed magazine that will combine all selected projects and interviews with the authors. This publication will not only be the program's culmination but also an important archive of Ukrainian visual memory that will present the photographers' work to the Ukrainian and international community.

The micro-grant program is part of a broader UAPP initiative to support independent Ukrainian photography—alongside a mentorship program, publishing projects, and international exhibitions. We do not only provide financial assistance but also form an ecosystem for the sustainable development of Ukrainian documentary photography, contributing to its visibility on the global cultural map.
