The project “Photodocumentarians at the forefront: supporting Ukrainian photographers and their projects” is an important step in supporting Ukrainian documentary photographers who risk their lives to tell the truth about the war conflict in Ukraine. By providing financial resources, training and security support, UAFF will contribute to the development of this important profession and expand the world's understanding of the situation in Ukraine.

UAPF will conduct training for project participants on handling in hazardous conditions, in particular mine safety and home health care. These trainings will be developed in conjunction with security experts to train photographers to work effectively on the front lines while minimizing risks to their lives.

It will also provide 10 sub-grants with the amount of $1000 each to carry out expeditions to the war zone to create its own photo project (minimum 10 photos).

Evaluation and selection of participants

The selection of participants will be carried out on a competitive basis and evaluated by the UAPF expert team based on the subject matter, importance, innovation and international impact potential of the proposed photo projects. Particular attention will be paid to those projects that document human rights violations and international war crimes.

As part of the agreement, the photographer reserves the copyright to the images he takes, and the UAFF will have the exclusive right to share the results of the participants' projects on its resources in order to promote the artists and the problems they document.

The result of the project will be high-quality and important photo documents that will bear witness to the war in Ukraine and support international awareness of these problems.
