In July 2025, Russia carried out more than 5100 drops of guided aircraft bombs on Ukraine, launched more than 3800 Shakhad kamikaze drones and almost 260 missiles of various types, 128 of which were ballistic. These figures, given by President Vladimir Zelensky, indicate a consistently high intensity of Russian terror. The week from July 28 to August 4 has only confirmed: the strategy of mass attacks remains unchanged. Russia's military has continued its combined drone and missile strikes that have killed dozens of people, injured hundreds of civilians and destroyed infrastructure in different regions of the country. Against the background of these attacks, Ukraine continues to defend not only its territory, but also the security of the whole of Europe.
On the night of28 to 29 JulyRussia attacked Ukraine with drones, Iskander missiles and air bombs. At least 28 people were killed, including 16 — as a result of an attack on a colony in Zaporizhzhya region, a pregnant woman was killed in Kamenskoe, and several more civilians were injured in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
July 30 The Russian army struck a civilian enterprise in the village of Vasyshcheve in Kharkiv region, killing a man and injuring seven more people, including two rescuers.
July 31The Russian army struck the middle of Kramatorsk, destroying part of a five-story building and causing a large-scale fire. At least four people were killed and 13 others were injured.
At night on August 2Ukraine has carried out a series of point strikes on military and energy facilities in Russia, including oil refineries in Ryazan, Samara and Voronezh regions, plants in Penza and an airbase in Primorsko-Akhtarsk. According to Russian sources, at least three people were killed, including one from the wreckage of a drone in Samara. Thus, August 2 became the day of the Ukrainian response to previous Russian strikes aimed at critical facilities in enemy territory.
At night on August 3 Russians launched a missile strike on a residential area of Nikolaev. Seven people were injured, including three men hospitalized. Homes, cars, a shop and a post office were damaged.
At night on August 4 Russian occupiers again attacked Odessa region with attack drones. As a result of the attacks, large-scale fires arose, which were quickly eliminated by the joint efforts of rescuers and local volunteers. The territory of the radio market suffered the greatest damage - the fire destroyed dozens of trade pavilions with household appliances and electronics. An uninhabited dormitory was also on fire.
The blackest night in Kyiv: July 31 attack claimed the lives of 31 people, including five children
On the night of July 31, Russian troops carried out one of the largest attacks on the Ukrainian capital since the start of a full-scale invasion. Kyiv and a number of other regions — Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions were in the sights. This was reported by president Vladimir Zelensky.

The attack began in the evening of July 30 and lasted until the morning. According to the Air Force, a total of 309 Kamikaze drones “Shahed” and 8 cruise missiles were launched. The Ukrainian air defense system was able to destroy or suppress 288 drones and three Iskander-K cruise missiles, but five missiles hit the target.
One of these hits a high-rise building in Svyatoshynskyi district Kiev where the most people died. In another 12 locations around the city, direct hits by drones were recorded, and debris from downed UAVs fell on at least 19 objects.

The attack killed at least 31 people, including five children. The youngest was only two years old. According to the manager KMVA Timur Tkachenko, the vast majority of the dead were in a destroyed house in the Svyatoshinsky district.

Among the dead were a six-year-old boy and his mother. Another child who died later became the fifth confirmed victim among minors. “My condolences to all family and friends,” President Zelensky wrote.
Rescuers worked at the scene of the tragedy until the morning of August 1. The bodies of 10 dead were recovered from under the rubble, among them a two-year-old child. The work lasted more than a day, because according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, up to ten people could remain under the rubble.

One of the most moving testimonies of the tragedy is story 23-year-old Kyiv resident Veronica, who was thrown from the ninth floor by an explosive wave. She was sleeping in bed when the detonation occurred. “I heard an explosion and a second later I was on the ground”” the girl told reporters. Veronica survived — with a broken leg, concussion and mental shock, and her parents died.

In total, 124 people were injured in the city, of whom at least 30 were hospitalized. Among the injured are ten children, five are in hospitals. “A five-month-old girl is injured. It was hit by the Russians,” Tkachenko said. The mayor of the capital Vitaly Klitschko stressed: this is the largest number of wounded children in one night in Kyiv during the entire war.

On Saturday, August 2, Russia carried out a massive attack on the market in Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region, when many people were on the territory. More than 10 explosions occurred in the city, as a result of which seven people were injured.

According to police, six women aged 22 to 71 and a 57-year-old man were among the victims. At least eight hits were recorded directly at the site of the attack. Two residential buildings, a shopping complex, three administrative buildings, a shop and nine civilian cars were damaged.

At the time of the attack, the Russian army used 13 Gerania-2 drones, which caused numerous destruction. As reported chief Donetsk Regional Police, Vadim Filashkin, immediately after the explosions, rescue services and police arrived at the scene, in particular paramedics, who provided first aid to the victims and evacuated people from dangerous areas.

Rescuers eliminated the effects of the explosions, and also helped the residents of the five-story building to get out of the premises where the doors were damaged. One of the injured received medical attention at the scene.
