The program aims to support Ukrainian photographers working on existing documentary projects related to the Russian-Ukrainian war: the consequences of Russian aggression, the lives of military personnel and civilians, etc.
The Ukrainian Warchive team will select five authors on a competitive basis, who will receive a grant of €1,000 (the amount includes tax obligations: 5% for sole proprietors, 19.5% for individuals).
WHO ARE THESE GRANTS FOR?
The competition is open to authors who are Ukrainian citizens or have permanent residence in Ukraine, work in Ukraine, and are members of Ukrainian Warchive or agree to become members of the archive. For more information on membership conditions, please follow the link.
HOW TO AGREE TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE ARCHIVE?
By applying for a grant, the author automatically agrees to become a member of the archive if they receive the grant.
WHAT DOES JOINING THE ARCHIVE ENTAIL?
Within six weeks of receiving the grant, the author undertakes to submit to the Ukrainian Warchive fund, including photographs from the photo project implemented with grant support, at least 1,000 reportage photographs (or a selection of 50 photographs from artistic projects) on the theme of the Russian-Ukrainian war, taken after February 2022.
WHO AND HOW DOES THE GRANT RECIPIENT GET CHOSEN?
The winners are picked by the photo archive team. The contest is open to projects that are already in progress. Applications should include a clear description of the author's idea and intention, as well as photos already taken as part of the project.
HOW TO REPORT ON THE USE OF THE GRANT?
The program does not require a report, but the applicant should indicate in the application how he or she plans to use the grant funds.
WHAT RIGHTS DO THE AUTHOR AND THE ARCHIVE HAVE TO USE THE PHOTOS?
All rights to photographs created within the microgrant program remain with the authors. The archive encourages authors to publish such projects on other platforms, in the media, and to participate in exhibitions, indicating that these projects were supported by Ukrainian Warchive. Publications and participation in exhibitions do not require approval from the archive.
By submitting photographs to the archive, the author grants Ukrainian Warchive the right to store copies of the photographs, publish them on the Ukrainian Warchive online platform and on the archive's social media accounts. Ukrainian Warchive does not have the right to transfer photographs to third parties or organizations under any circumstances without the consent of the authors.
Applications can be submitted until June 11, 2024 (application deadline is 11:59 p.m.) via the link.
The results of the competition will be announced on the archive website in the summer of 2024.
