On the morning of December 20, Russian forces attacked Kyiv using aero-ballistic “Kinzhal” missiles and ballistic missiles of the “Iskander-M/KN-23” type. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, all five ballistic missiles were shot down by air defense forces.

As of 11:00, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, one person was killed as a result of the missile attack, and eleven others were injured. Five were hospitalized, while the rest received assistance on site.


Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that missile debris fell in three districts of the capital: Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi.
Holosiivskyi district
In the area, debris damaged an office building, a road surface and a gas pipe that was deflated by the impact, as well as setting fire to five cars. Previously, one person was killed, another was injured. In addition, at another address, the facade and roof of the office building were damaged, and destruction was recorded on the 15th floor, where blocked people can remain. Two victims were hospitalized.


Solomianskyi district
As a result of falling debris, a fire broke out in a non-residential building. According to rescuers, there are no casualties in the area.
Shevchenkivs'kyi district
Here, a fire also broke out on the territory of non-residential development. Detailed information regarding damage and casualties is being clarified.
Damage to cultural monuments
As reported by the Ukrainian International Institute of Restoration, the blast wave damaged the facade stained-glass windows of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church — a national architectural monument. Windows of the administrative building of the National House of Music, located next to the church, were also affected.


Local authorities continue to clarify information about the victims and the scale of destruction.
