Anniversary of the Olenivka terrorist attack
The tragedy in Olenivka occurred on the night of July 29: an explosion rang out in the barrack of Correctional Colony No. 120. The day before, Ukrainian prisoners of war, including defenders of Azovstal, had been deliberately moved there. Ukraine recognized this attack as a terrorist act. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General in the summer of 2024, investigative actions were still ongoing without charges being filed. This war crime claimed the lives of more than 50 people, and over 140 were injured.

Mykolaiv school of photography MYPH: from conceptual to documentary images
The well‑known MYPH school of conceptual and art photography in southern Ukraine was founded by Serhii Melnychenko in his hometown of Mykolaiv. Its training is aimed at promoting and deepening the understanding of contemporary conceptual and artistic photography among creators. During Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine, Mykolaiv photographers took on an active volunteer role. Some joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while others shifted from artistic to documentary photography to record the consequences of the occupiers’ actions.

On July 4, 2023, the Russian army struck the city center of Pervomaisky, Kharkiv region. According to the prosecutor's office of Ukraine, the Russian military launched an Iskander missile at a residential quarter of the city. Several high-rise buildings were damaged, 43 people were injured, including 12 children. The explosion occurred during a farewell ceremony with Ukrainian intelligence commander Oleg Fadeenko.

On the night of July 6, 2023, Russian troops launched another missile strike on Lviv. They launched cruise missiles “Caliber” from the waters of the Black Sea. Microgrant and mentoring program to support Ukrainian photographers
The program includes four mentoring courses and a final competition for participants. After that, we will provide financial support in the amount of 8000€ to Ukrainian photographers who will create projects related to the theme of war. First of all, we support authors who do not have constant access to software and resources, giving them an additional opportunity to continue their work.

I met her in December on the train from Przemyśl to Kyiv. There was a free seat in my compartment, and the conductor sat her next to me. She apologized—the train from Prague was late, and she had missed the train to Kyiv for which she had a ticket. I think I sympathized with her. Or maybe I didn't. I don't remember much of what she said before she uttered the words, “My husband is in captivity.” But I remember everything that happened after that.
