Anniversary of the Olenivka terrorist attack
The tragedy in Olenivka occurred on the night of July 29: an explosion rang out in the barrack of Correctional Colony No. 120. The day before, Ukrainian prisoners of war, including defenders of Azovstal, had been deliberately moved there. Ukraine recognized this attack as a terrorist act. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General in the summer of 2024, investigative actions were still ongoing without charges being filed. This war crime claimed the lives of more than 50 people, and over 140 were injured.

The Russian army began attacking the city of Kharkiv from the first day of a full-scale invasion. The Russian forces failed to capture the city, so they began systematically shelling it every day. In addition to shelling residential neighborhoods, from which the sleeping areas of Kharkiv suffered the most, the Russian military deliberately destroyed the civilian infrastructure of the city.
