Anniversary of the Olenivka terrorist attack
The tragedy in Olenivka occurred on the night of July 29: an explosion rang out in the barrack of Correctional Colony No. 120. The day before, Ukrainian prisoners of war, including defenders of Azovstal, had been deliberately moved there. Ukraine recognized this attack as a terrorist act. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General in the summer of 2024, investigative actions were still ongoing without charges being filed. This war crime claimed the lives of more than 50 people, and over 140 were injured.

Ukrainian photographer Maksym Dondyuk has been documenting the war since 2014. He has worked in the hottest spots, including the Ilovaisk encirclement. At the beginning of the full‑scale invasion, he documented the fighting in the Kyiv region, and his photographs have been published by leading media outlets around the world. Dondyuk works on long‑term personal projects that serve as his own reflections on the war in Ukraine. Maksym spoke about creating images for his new “White Series.”

I am not even thinking about the color (although white can be so white), but rather whether it is appropriate to go out looking so clean at noon on July 8, when the Russians were about to shell the Okhmatdyt children's hospital and the area near the Lukyanivska metro station in Kyiv. And we're only talking about a few of the thirty-eight missiles that were fired at various Ukrainian cities.
