The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, together with legal experts from the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UAPI/IP Office), has initiated the development of a suite of standard contract templates for photographers to use in their daily work. This package of documents will include licensing agreements, agreements on the assignment of economic rights, as well as agreements on the payment of royalties and author's remuneration. It is essential to adapt these templates to various fields of photography, as each niche has its own unique needs and operational specifics that must be addressed from a legal perspective. In addition, practical guidelines are planned to assist photographers in navigating any potential copyright disputes or challenges.

Daily terror against civilians: consequences of strikes on Kyiv, Boryspil, Odesa, and Kramatorsk
The beginning of the school year in Ukraine turned into a week of exhausting and brutal attacks. The most massive shelling targeted the Kyiv region, Odesa region, and frontline communities of Donetsk. This week among the affected sites in the capital: a railway depot, a higher education institution, and the Security Service of Ukraine building; UNESCO World Heritage sites also suffered damage. During the strikes, specialists from emergency and municipal services, as well as workers from the metallurgical sector, were killed: a State Emergency Service rescuer, two police officers, a utility worker, six railway workers, and five metallurgists. Units of the State Emergency Service and Air Defense Forces worked continuously under heavy smoke and constant risk of repeated strikes.

“The biggest attack on Lviv.” Yurko Dyachyshyn's memories of the missile strike on his hometown
On the night of July 6, 2023, Russian troops launched another missile strike on Lviv. They launched cruise missiles “Caliber” from the waters of the Black Sea. Ten people were killed and 42 others were injured. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi noted that this was the largest attack on the city's civilian infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

The program includes four mentoring courses and a final competition for participants. After that, we will provide financial support in the amount of 8000€ to Ukrainian photographers who will create projects related to the theme of war. First of all, we support authors who do not have constant access to software and resources, giving them an additional opportunity to continue their work.

Pain is universal, evil is real. Elena Guseinova analyzes the photo of the week
I met her in December on the train from Przemyśl to Kyiv. There was a free seat in my compartment, and the conductor sat her next to me. She apologized—the train from Prague was late, and she had missed the train to Kyiv for which she had a ticket. I think I sympathized with her. Or maybe I didn't. I don't remember much of what she said before she uttered the words, “My husband is in captivity.” But I remember everything that happened after that.

Changes to the rules for journalists working in wartime: extended accreditation and a clear description of media work in different zones
Another step toward constructive communication between the media and the military. By Order No. 51 of 3 February 2024, the Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, approved amendments to Order No. 73 concerning the rules for journalist accreditation during martial law. For the first time, a detailed description of the zones has been provided — something that was previously entirely absent.
