Anniversary of the Olenivka terrorist attack
The tragedy in Olenivka occurred on the night of July 29: an explosion rang out in the barrack of Correctional Colony No. 120. The day before, Ukrainian prisoners of war, including defenders of Azovstal, had been deliberately moved there. Ukraine recognized this attack as a terrorist act. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General in the summer of 2024, investigative actions were still ongoing without charges being filed. This war crime claimed the lives of more than 50 people, and over 140 were injured.

Behind the slag heap: Konstantin Guzenko documents children from frontline regions
We continue to share the documentary projects of the finalists as part of the grant support for documentary photographers, implemented with the support of the International Press Institute. Konstantin Guzenko spent a month with volunteer organizations that took responsibility to support the development of those children who remained in some settlements of Kupyansk district and Donetsk region, which are closest to the contact line.

Destroyed monuments and burned equipment. Liberated Trostyanets in photographs by Oleg Pereverzev
The Russian army captured the city of Trostyanets in the Sumy region at the beginning of a full-scale invasion — on March 1, 2022. The Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated the city from Russian troops less than a month later — on March 26. Today, the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers publishes photos of Oleg Pereverziev, taken in the spring of 2022 in Trostyanets. The photographer was one of the first to arrive in the liberated city and filmed the consequences of the Russian occupation.

Figure in the snow. Dismantling of the monument to Shchors on the photos of Evgeny Zavgorodny
Today, December 9, a monument to one of the Bolshevik leaders Nikolay Shchors was dismantled on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard in Kyiv. Specialists of KP “Kyivblagoustria” worked on the dismantling of the seven-ton structure for almost seven hours. Photographer Yevhenii Zavgorodny documented the process of descending the figure from the pedestal to the ground.
