Global recognition of Ukrainian documentarians today goes far beyond purely artistic achievements, since the documentary frame remains the most powerful tool in the struggle for the attention of the international community. The year 2026 has become another important year of victory for Ukrainian photographers, members of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, on the international stage. Their works were nominated and awarded for their uncompromising capture of the realities of war.

From July 13 to 19, 2026, Russia carried out a series of brutal attacks on Ukraine. The main instrument of Russian terror this week were guided aerial bombs, which almost daily devastated Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, the Dnipro region, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk, along with strike drones. Kyiv again shook under massive ballistic strikes, while Odesa region endured a week of missile attacks on ports and civilian infrastructure. Against the backdrop of shelling, the country was swept by peaceful protests against the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov from the post of Minister of Defense.

The book “Eyes of War” is a documentary photo project by Ukrainian photographers Kostiantyn and Vlada Liberov, published with the support of PUMB Bank. The edition includes 280 of the most important images from the front and frontline territories, taken between 2022 and 2025. The book depicts combat actions, the pain of losses, and hope. In addition to photographs, the collection features texts by Vlada Liberova, which capture the reality and emotional experience of war. In the spring of 2026, the project was presented to an international audience at the prestigious London Book Fair, and by early summer the book became available for public sale.
