Anniversary of the Olenivka terrorist attack
The tragedy in Olenivka occurred on the night of July 29: an explosion rang out in the barrack of Correctional Colony No. 120. The day before, Ukrainian prisoners of war, including defenders of Azovstal, had been deliberately moved there. Ukraine recognized this attack as a terrorist act. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General in the summer of 2024, investigative actions were still ongoing without charges being filed. This war crime claimed the lives of more than 50 people, and over 140 were injured.

Kupyansk, known in the past as an important trading hub, has today become a symbol of struggle and destruction. Historically, the city was closely associated with trade, which is reflected even in its name - according to one version, it comes from the word “merchant”. Another version associates the name with “bumps” — peat mounds that covered the area.
