Anniversary of the Olenivka terrorist attack
The tragedy in Olenivka occurred on the night of July 29: an explosion rang out in the barrack of Correctional Colony No. 120. The day before, Ukrainian prisoners of war, including defenders of Azovstal, had been deliberately moved there. Ukraine recognized this attack as a terrorist act. As reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General in the summer of 2024, investigative actions were still ongoing without charges being filed. This war crime claimed the lives of more than 50 people, and over 140 were injured.

“Ways of capturing the war.” Battles for the capital in photographs by Oleksandr Ratushniak
Since February 24, 2022, a large-scale invasion of Russian troops began in several directions: in the area of the demarcation line in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, from the temporarily occupied Crimea and from the Belarusian side to Sumy, Chernihiv and Kiev. Russian troops planned to capture the capital in two to three days, but their plan failed. Kiev resisted, instead the Russians occupied part of the area and approached the capital close to the capital. There were fierce battles near Kiev.

Radio Svoboda journalist Maryan Kushnir met a full-scale invasion in Donetsk region, where he often worked before. According to him, on the eve of the invasion, he went to Marinka. Missile strike on the Kharkiv Regional State Administration
On March 1, 2022, Russian forces launched a missile strike on the central square of Kharkiv — Freedom Square. 29 people were killed. As seen from a CCTV camera, the explosion occurred at 8:02 a.m. At least four cars drove near the square at this time. The rocket hit the right wing of the building of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration. The buildings of the opera house, the Philharmonic and part of the residential complex — four- and five-story buildings — were also damaged.

In the evening of October 21, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a missile strike on the Novaya Poshta terminal in the village of Korotych in Kharkiv region. The head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleg Syenegubov said that they fired from the S-300 air defense system.
