Наслідки чергових російських атак — у репортажах з Одеси, Херсона, Дніпра та Києва
У столиці триває ліквідація наслідків масштабної ракетно-дронової атаки, яка забрала життя сімох громадян і спричинила руйнування й пожежі. Жорстокого удару зазнало місто Дніпро, де загинуло 16 мирних жителів, ворог повторно атакував місто та район просто в день жалоби. На Донеччині чергові авіаудари по Краматорську та Дружківці принесли нові смерті. Окупанти кожен день обстрілювали Херсон з артилерії й безпілотників, а також дистанційно мінували території. Потерпали обласні центри та громади у прифронтових і прикордонних регіонах.

Unprecedented destruction in Kyiv, tragedy in Kherson, strikes on schools: the main facts about shelling in Ukraine over the past week
As a result of the May 24 attack in Kyiv, unprecedented destruction of cultural sites has been recorded since the beginning of the Russian‑Ukrainian war. The Russians are deliberately destroying educational institutions — the buildings of the Kyiv‑Mohyla Academy were damaged, a drone strike completely burned down a school in Chernihiv region, and a school in Derhachi was damaged. The enemy continues airstrikes on Kramatorsk, terrorizes Odesa both day and night, and attacks foreign civilian vessels in the ports. In Kherson, a Russian shell exploded on a playground, killing the father of a family; doctors are fighting for the lives of the mother and their three‑year‑old daughter, while the six‑year‑old daughter is in moderate condition.

The first week of the new year in Ukraine passed under the sound of air‑raid sirens, the buzz of Shaheds, and explosions. Massive attacks on Zaporizhzhia, strikes on Bila Tserkva and Volyn, terror against Chernihiv and Kherson — Russian assaults reached every region during the holiday week. The most destructive and deadly attacks targeted Odesa and Kharkiv. In Odesa, on New Year’s night, three children sustained moderate injuries. The next day in Kharkiv, a three‑year‑old child was killed under the rubble of a residential building, and an infant suffered shock. The final week of 2025 in Ukraine began with a massive Russian attack on critical infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Energy, it was the ninth large‑scale strike on Ukraine’s power system since the start of 2025. A significant portion of the attacks targeted Western Ukraine. For residents of Chernihiv, Christmas Eve and Christmas turned into days of hardship under relentless shelling. The week was also marked by strikes on the Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions, where children were among the dead and injured. Russian forces continued their deliberate destruction of infrastructure in Odesa region. The situation in frontline areas remained consistently severe. In Donetsk region, a volunteer from Kharkiv was killed by a Russian drone strike. Late in the week, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region, continuing drone terror throughout the day.

One‑time government payments for families of injured and killed journalists. Will independent media workers be able to receive them?
The Cabinet of Ministers is launching a mechanism for one‑time financial assistance in the event of the death or injury of journalists while performing their professional duties. This was announced on December 13 by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. The program is included in the state budget for 2026. The first compensation will be issued to the father of journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna, who was killed in Russian captivity.
