Russian 'Fight for Peace' and Why It's Important to Know the Lessons of History
Russia has always engaged in deception by twisting and interpreting historical events. To explain the desire to seize foreign lands to a pro-Russian audience, Russia created a positive image of war—a "sacred" war with the noble goal of helping a "brotherly nation." At the same time, the enemy was always blamed for the war, as they allegedly forced Russia to fight.

The machine gun and the butterfly wings. Photographer Roman Zakrevsky's memories of the first weeks of full-scale war in Chernihiv
The city of Chernihiv became one of the first where Russian troops tried to break through on February 24, 2022. The city is located at the intersection of the borders of three states - Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian Federation, and it takes no more than two hours to go to Kiev from here. Chernihiv was under siege until April, but it was never possible to occupy it. The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers publishes photos of Roman Zakrevsky, who has been in Chernihiv since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and documented the events of the war.

A holiday exposed by a shock wave. Elena Guseinova analyzes the photo of the week
Everyone reposted this photo of Pavlo Dorogoy. Or maybe it just seemed that way to me. I saw it on the page of a military journalist I know, on the page of an unknown woman from Myrhorod, and even a Kyiv IT specialist who managed to escape to Berlin in the spring of 2022 left this photo on his story carousel for 24 hours. The cold blue haze of Kharkiv. A bare tree with items hanging from its branches, thrown out of neighboring houses by the blast wave of a Russian missile strike.
