A week of shelling, destruction, and hardship: the consequences of Russian attacks on Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Kherson
Throughout the week of November 4–9, 2024, Russian forces intensified their attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities far from the front line. Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv, and other populated areas—home to hundreds of thousands and even millions of people—became targets for drones and missiles. These strikes left behind not only destruction but also deep psychological and physical wounds, forcing Ukrainians to remember every day that even in the rear, safety remains conditional.
